Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins quarterback, and Offensive MVP of the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship, sustained a serious concussion after being forcefully thrown to the turf by a Bengals defender; he left the field strapped to a stretcher. The former Alabama star appeared to be knocked unconscious from the “head to turf” contact. Shortly after impact, he went into Fencing Response Position. The Mayo Clinic offers the following first aid for concussions.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Tua and his family as he recovers from this serious brain injury. The Miami Dolphins have announced, “Tua Tagovailoa is out of the game with head and neck injuries,” and “We will not see Tua Tagovailoa again this evening. The good news, if any, is that Tagovailoa is conscious and has movement in all his extremities.”
The Miami Dolphins further announced, “Tua Tagovailoa has been taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for further evaluation. He is conscious and has movement in all his extremities.”
